Sleep Secrets – Floral Tea(Zohurat) from Arabia
Mariam and I were discussing how people these days have so much to do and being moms in Dubai have not just school pick ups but weekly playdates, coffee dates, dinner dates and coaching for all activities for our kids across a not so small
city. However, the block I stumble over constantly year after year is the fact that when night comes, I fall asleep easily but I can't seem to stay asleep. I am sure most of us are familiar with the beautiful lullaby of the opening scene of a new movie or series and then lights out. We
sleep peacefully and deeply to the background of sounds we cannot register. And then... wake up at 1, then again at 2, and then at 4:!5 and so on just staring into the darkness begrudging all the things that need to be done that day followed by all the things that happened the
the previous day. We wake up tired only to press on to do the difficult and painful task of hitting everything on that check list to satisfy our compulsion to be super human.
So she decided to suggest, Melatonin as a great supplement. It is known to help you sleep and also calms your nerves. I, however, am a skeptic and didn't want to take anything in a tablet form that wouldn't soothe an ever so suspicious and wandering mind. So then to soothe
my compulsive needs, she decided to recommend something she personally uses - Zohurat. It is a blend of different flora ranging from chamomile to lavendar, aromatic herbs and fragrant rose petals. I decided to swallow the pill of doubt and have this beautiful decoction.Oh, its
definitely instagrammable and I am sure there maybe a large part of the society here that just buys a ready mix from the shelves but I didn't want my tea to come with a side of microplastics, so I decided to get the actual mix from a store called - Alalamia Spices.I brewed my first cup
of floral tea that evening and expected MAGIC! Of course nothing happened, and as usual I put my favourite series on Netflix and promptly fall asleep. I opened my eyes to the sound of my beautiful windchimes and sadly looked at my clock to once again face my dreaded fear and expected to see midnight but lo and behold, it was 6 am! Tadaaa!!!
